The Governance of Good Research Conduct in the UK

In April 2008, UKRIO, Research Councils UK, Universities UK and the Wellcome Trust, in association with the Department of Health, the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, the UK funding councils for higher education, the Committee on Publication Ethics, the British Academy and the Association of Medical Research Charities, co-sponsored a policy workshop on the Governance of Good Research Conduct in the UK.

The workshop took place at Keele University and its aim was to bring key stakeholders together to establish whether the parties involved in all areas of research in the UK could be confident that they are addressing and managing the highest standards of research conduct across all research subjects and that they have in place, at both the national and the institutional level, appropriate systems to ensure the avoidance of inappropriate conduct.

It was hoped that discussions at the workshop will facilitate progress towards an all-party agreement on a whole-system approach for the handling of issues of research misconduct in the UK.

The papers for the workshop can be found below. Further presentations will be added as soon as they become available.
