Members of the Panel (Members of the Board and Advisers), who are not employees of Universities UK, in providing advice and contributing to the work of the Board act independently. They adhere to the respective Board’s Terms of Reference.

The Panel’s Programme of Work is developed and directed by the Board.

Support for the Panel from relevant organisations with an interest in the Panel’s work are defined in the Memoranda of Understanding with those organisations.

The Panel appreciates that there are many organisations which issue guidance on the conduct of research to the UK research community. For some time, it has been working with organisations such as Research Councils UK and the Department of Health, with a view ultimately to streamline guidance on good practice in research, to ensure that it is clear for the research community, and to avoid duplication of effort. Further developments will be made known to the research community as they occur.
